We know that your engineering and support teams are provide the most value to your company when they are able to use their knowledge and experience to deliver on your business’ goals and to continue to develop, test, and support your products. 

Manufacturers have been limited in the past to choosing from the lesser of two evils. If the choice is made to develop and support the integration in-house, you need to invest time and money in an internal software developer to:

1. Evaluate and learn each access control system’s API options
2. Select an API that they believe best suits their needs with minimal knowledge of industry or manufacturer best practices
3. Develop the integration without knowledge of the internal workings of each access control system
4. Engage in on-site certification of your integration
   1. 40% of integrations written by manufacturers do not pass initial certification and require additional development and testing time to re-work and re-submit
5. Provide on-going support for your integration as both your products and the access control systems evolve

Manufacturers who do not have the in-house expertise or resource bandwidth to develop their integration have had the option of contracting a third-party software development company, typically one with no access control industry experience, to learn both their own API and that of the access control system and then develop a custom integration between the two. These integrations are almost always lacking in features and do not have viable support.

Manufacturers who have had this as their only viable option end up with a check on the RFP saying their product is integrated with a particular system but a customer who is disappointed when they see what that integration actually offers.
